Series Overview

Welcome to the enchanting world of Sounder & Friends™, where Sounder, the dog, and her friends, Will, Sky and Trae, are always ready for fun and adventure! In this magical world, sounds are not only heard, but they are seen as colorful swirls that, when blended together, form objects in the environment.

The lovable but impulsive raccoon, Sound Snatcher, is fascinated by these colorful swirls! He uses his tail to snatch and switch sounds, creating new words and accidentally wreaking havoc on the friends' fun - like when he snatches the first sound in CAKE and leaves Trae with a birthday ACHE! But not to worry! Sounder and her friends use their magical features to catch the sounds that they need to change the word back and restore order. They even invite Sound Snatcher to join in their fun!

Created by literacy experts, Sounder & Friends™ targets the critical, but often neglected skill of phonemic awareness. Phonemic awareness is the ability to hear and play with individual sounds (or phonemes) in spoken words. Being able to identify sounds, blend them together to form words, and delete or swap sounds within words, boosts the achievement of young children as they learn to read and spell. In a playful and entertaining manner, Sounder & Friends™ encourages children to explore and interact with the characters and the "soundscape", all the while developing important literacy skills.
